Center for International Studies is a university-based multidisciplinary research center of the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL). CEI-IUL aims at promoting interdisciplinary research in Social Sciences, International Relations and Economy, focusing in its areas of geographic specialization: Africa, Asia, Europe and Transatlantic Relations.

The Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies results from the combined efforts of all teachers in the School of Communication, Arts and Information Technologies towards the goal of creating an autonomous research unit which will allow for the integration and harnessesing of all the research activities conducted within the school.

HANGAR is an Artistic Research Center, located in the area of Graça, in Lisbon. HANGAR includes several platforms for action, including: a center of artistic residences, studios for artists, an art education center, an exhibition and public program.

AfrikPlay | Filmes à Conversa  is a new project presenting films focused in contemporary Africa, organized by Center for International Studies (CEI-IUL) | ISCTE-IUL and CRIA (Network Centre for Anthropology Research) | ISCTE-IUL. Being a ‘work in progress’, aims to bring cinema to the university, opening space for debate and reflection around films that present a innovative look on Africa.

The Architecture Lab – Research Center LabART, is based and has its headquarter in the Lisbon campus of Lusófona University of Humanities and Technologies (ULHT) Building “U” and presents a regional chamber in Oporto at Universidade Lusófona do Porto (ULP).As a unit of research and development (R&D) LabART is functionally subordinate to the Lusófona Office of Research and Development (ILIND) and financially and administratively to the Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural CrL. (Cofac ) and the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) the funding entities.

Frame supports international initiatives, facilitates professional partnerships, and encourages critical development of the field through grants, visitor programme and residencies, seminars and talks, exhibition collaborations and network platforms. Frame is in charge of the Finnish participation in the Venice Biennale alongside other major international art events.
